We are so back! With just 46 days until Election Day, LCV Victory Fund’s weekly report is back. Each week we will be sharing exclusives, new ads and organizing programming, paid media trackers, and the latest happenings on energy affordability this election season.

In the final sprint to Election Day, we are massively ramping up. We are meeting voters where they are both on the ground and on the screens that they watch the most to ensure they know that there is a choice this election cycle between candidates who have plans to lower costs and make things more affordable and candidates who are endorsed by someone who says affordability is “fake.” Polling from our July and August investments is already validating this approach, breaking through and moving races towards pro-clean energy affordability candidates.

NEW: Gaining Ground

Today, LCV Victory Fund and state affiliates announced a $1.6 million investment in field organizing programs encompassing Gubernatorial, House and State Legislature races in Nevada and Wisconsin to knock over 200,000 doors.

  • Nevada Governor ($400k): In Las Vegas, the field program in partnership with Nevada Conservation Leadership PAC is focused on increasing voter awareness of Aaron Ford and how he plans to lower costs. Canvassers are also speaking with voters about Ford’s plans to ensure that data centers are not raising their energy costs or taking resources from Nevadans.
  • Wisconsin Governor, House WI-03, State Legislature ($1.2 million): LCV Victory Fund is partnering with Wisconsin Conservation Voters IEC to connect with voters in Eau Claire about electing David Crowley as Governor, Rebecca Cooke to Congress, Jeff Smith to State Senate, and Jeremiah Fredrickson to State Assembly. Cooke is challenging Congressman Derrick Van Orden who was recently named to LCV Victory Fund’s Dirty Dozen for his vote for the Big Ugly Bill, repealing billions in clean energy incentives that would have reduced costs and created jobs in his own district. Van Orden also voted in 2025 to roll back a rule cutting methane pollution fees and voted “present,” instead of voting against a bill to block new water-heater efficiency standards that would have lowered household energy costs.

Blitz Alert: $2.6 Million in New House and Senate Ads

This week we launched a $2.6 million ad blitz, which included a $1.6 million digital ad campaign focused on Iowa’s Senate race and Ashley Hinson’s record of voting against clean water protections. The other million was spread across House races in NY-17 and PA-10 targeting Dirty Dozen A-listers Mike Lawler (NY-17) and Scott Perry (PA-10) for their votes to raise energy costs and cut clean energy. All three of the ads feature powerful testimonials from constituents harmed by the votes their Representatives have taken.

ICYMI: Summer’s Over

We’ve been busy this summer, here’s what you may have missed:

  • To kick off the summer, we announced our “Energy Bill Voter” strategy for this midterm cycle to reach a crucial voting bloc who are more likely to be women, Black and/or Latino, non-college educated, less engaged with politics, independent, moderate, or soft partisan voters. Jump starting the election season,
  • In July, we announced a $4 million early House ad program, in partnership with Somos PAC, focused in 5 districts that Trump won by 5 or more points. The ads called out incumbent Republicans for their votes to raise energy costs and cut clean energy. Polling on these ads showed that they moved a net 4 points toward the Democrat in MI-04, AZ-02, and VA-01.
  • In August, we announced our plans to spend at least $50 million in the 2026 midterm election cycle. Our priorities this cycle include flipping the House, protecting and expanding pro-clean energy seats in the U.S. Senate and supporting the work of state affiliates to elect pro-clean energy and climate candidates up and down the ballot.
  • We launched an ad supporting Stefany Shaheen in the NH-01 primary and called out former Congressman Mike Rogers for his history of supporting cost hikes on utilities, groceries, and prescription in the Michigan Senate race.
  • In partnership with EDF Action Votes, we also launched a $4 million ad program targeting Sen. Jon Husted for his role raising utility bills for Ohioans and his role delivering a bailout to FirstEnergy.
  • We launched this year’s 2026 Dirty Dozen, where every candidate on this year’s list has a record, a vote, a lobbying history, or a policy position, that is helping drive up the electricity and heating bills their own constituents pay, whether through blocking or repealing clean energy projects, providing handouts to dirtier and more expensive fuels like oil, coal and gas, or embracing costly data center buildouts without protecting ratepayers from the bill or the pollution.
