Re: MEMO: Republicans Are Floundering As We Head Into the Final Week of the Cycle

With less than two weeks until Election Day, LCV Victory Fund is spending more than any other single issue organization this cycle to help ensure that Democrats regain control of the House and Senate. This week, we are sharing ads that dropped on the airwaves and stories from the field.

Big Spending

Today, in a Washington Post exclusive, LCV Victory Fund and affiliated entities announced their plan to surge to over $110 million into key House, Senate, and state races. We initially committed $50 million to midterm efforts, but as voters’ concerns about energy prices and other climate-related issues continued to grow, we raised unprecedented resources. The investment marks the largest total spent by an outside issue group in support of Democratic candidates, and surpasses the $100 million the group invested in 2022.

New on the Air

Today, LCV Victory Fund launched $2.5 million on a new ad program contrasting Mike Rogers and Abdul El-Sayed. Rogers was named to LCV Victory Fund’s Dirty Dozen this year for his connections to Big Oil and Big Tech. The ad will run on YouTube and CTV until November 3. We also launched another $1.1 million in digital ad programming focused on David Valadao (CA-22), Tom Barrett (MI-07), Mike Bouchard (MI-10) and David Flippo (NV-02). This is our first investment in NV-02, which President Trump won by 13 points in 2024.

Politico’s Morning Environment broke the news of our new $2.3 million ad program in FL-14 and FL-22 focused on rising home insurance costs driven by extreme weather in Florida. The program includes digital ads and creator content that will run on YouTube, CTV, Linear TV and other digital platforms through November 3. These ads are airing at a critical time when rising home insurance premiums are increasingly becoming an affordability issue for voters – not only in Florida but across the country. Voters who are making up their minds in the last weeks of the election are likely to be motivated by higher costs for everything, including home insurance.

Earlier this week, Politico’s Morning Score reported on LCV Victory Fund’s over $5 million in broadcast and digital ad programming in the Iowa Senate race and multiple House races. This investment includes a $1.5 million digital ad program opposing Ashley Hinson in the Iowa Senate race. Additionally, this spend includes ad programming calling out Rhett Marques (AL-02), Jay Feely (AZ-01), Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06), Gabe Evans (CO-08), Mike Beltran (FL-14), Jennifer Balkcom (NC-11), Anthony DiLorenzo (NH-01), Scott Perry (PA-10), and Derrick Van Orden (WI-03). This year, Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06), Gabe Evans (CO-08) and Derrick Van Orden (WI-03) were named to LCV Victory Fund’s Dirty Dozen.

This week, LCV Victory Fund also launched an additional $1.6 million in broadcast and digital ad programming focused on Bill Huizenga (MI-04), Mike Lawler (NY-17), Anthony Constantino (NY-21), and John McGuire (VA-05). LCV Victory Fund named Bill Huizenga (MI-04) and Mike Lawler (NY-17) to this year’s Dirty Dozen.

Gaining Ground: Over 2 Million Doors Knocked!

By the numbers:

Across Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin:

  • 2,270,064 doors knocked
  • 263,492 door contacts

Notes from the Field:

  • Michigan: While canvassing in Southfield, we talked to Marie who shared her top policy concern was lowering utility bills and that she was nervous about how high her bill was going to get heading into the colder months. She was worried that she would have to make difficult decisions about how to spend her money to afford to keep her house warm. When asked about Jocelyn Benson and Abdul El-Sayed, she was enthusiastic when telling us that she would be voting for them.
  • Texas: In Houston, we spoke with Grace who expressed concerns about the rising cost of utility bills and how expensive electricity has become for Texas households. She explained that high monthly bills make it difficult for families to manage their budgets and afford other necessities. She’s hoping to see utility costs decrease so working families can have some financial relief and keep up with their everyday expenses. With the hope of reducing costs, she’s excited to support Talarico in the Senate race.
