Sara Gideon

LCV Action Fund-endorsed Sara Gideon has a long distinguished record of putting public health and the environment first. As Speaker of the House in Maine, she championed several key environmental bills, including legislation to confront the climate crisis, boost clean energy, and ban offshore drilling in Maine. In fact, Gideon has earned an outstanding 96% lifetime score on Maine Conservation Voters’ Environmental Scorecard.

In the Senate, Gideon will continue to fight for urgently needed action to protect Maine’s pristine environment, reduce harmful carbon pollution, and build a clean energy economy — always putting science and facts ahead of partisan politics.

Susan Collins

Senator Susan Collins used to be an independent voice for Maine, but now she consistently sides with special interests, plays partisan politics, and rubber stamps Trump’s anti-environment agenda. For example, Collins cast the deciding vote to confirm a climate change denier who spent years working for the oil industry to a seat on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. She has also accepted $500,000 in campaign contributions from oil and gas interests — while at the same time voting for massive tax breaks for big oil companies. Additionally, Collins has supported judges like Brett Kavanaugh, with long-standing anti-environmental records.

Incredibly, Collins also said Trump “did a lot that was right in the beginning” on the coronavirus and has refused to hold him accountable, even with over 200,000 deaths in the U.S. and millions out of work.
