Ground Game: Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC and LCV Victory Fund Launch $3.7 million Field Program
Washington, D.C.– Today, the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC (CFFE PAC) and LCV Victory Fund, along with state affiliates and partners, announced a combined $3.7 million investment in field organizing programs encompassing Senate, House, and gubernatorial races to knock over 300,000 doors in Michigan and Ohio.
The Ohio program is a partnership between CFFE PAC and the New American Jobs Fund, which is a joint project of LCV Victory Fund and United Steelworkers. The Michigan program is a partnership between CFFE PAC, LCV Victory Fund, and Conservation Voters of Michigan PAC.
“We need leaders who will prioritize people over polluters,” said Sara Schreiber, SVP of Campaigns, LCV Victory Fund. “We are thrilled to be partnering with the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC to go door to door to meet voters where they are. Across the country we are facing an affordability crisis and voters need to know that there are candidates who have platforms and plans to actually lower costs, especially utility costs. Voters deserve better. They deserve leaders who will stand up to Big Polluters, advocate for their communities, and look for our health and safety.”
“From gas to utilities to child care, costs are going up on nearly everything families need to survive,” said Phoebe Kilgour, deputy executive director of the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC. “We’re proud to be working with LCV Victory Fund to ensure voters know which candidates will fight to lower their costs, and which candidates are more concerned with lining their own pockets.”
LCV Victory Fund research shows that 42% of swing voters are “very concerned” about rising electricity costs. This field program includes targeting the “Energy Bill Voter,” who is more likely to be women, Black and/or Latino, non-college-educated, less engaged with politics, independent, moderate, or soft partisan voters, and are crucial to a 2026 midterms win.
Below is more information on the first set of field programs in Michigan and Ohio. These programs will include a layered combination of door-to-door canvassing, story collection, and mail programs:
Michigan Governor, Senate, House MI-07 and MI-10 ($1.7 million field program)
Canvassers in Grand Rapids, Lansing, Detroit, Southfield and Macomb County are talking with voters about how Republicans have raised costs across the board, especially utility costs and the cost of care, to support Jocelyn Benson (MI-Gov), Abdul El-Sayed (MI-Sen), William Lawrence (MI-07) and Christina Hines (MI-10). Literature will focus on how former Congressman Mike Rogers (MI-Sen) and John James (MI-Gov) both openly supported the Big Ugly Bill, also known as the Republican Tax Law, which raised utility rates by an average of $160 per household. Mike Rogers notably took roughly $693,000 in direct contributions from oil and gas industry donors over his congressional career. This is in contrast to the Democratic candidates, who support lowering utility bills as well as making child care, elder care and health care more affordable.
As part of this program, when canvassers meet someone who has a compelling story to share around rising costs, they’ll ask them to record a short video sharing their experience. These videos will be edited into short digital ads to share across organic and paid media. This program is a partnership between the Campaign for Family Friendly Economy PAC, the LCV Victory Fund and Conservation Voters of Michigan PAC.
Ohio Senate, House OH-01 and OH-09 ($2 million field program)
Across Ohio, LCV Victory Fund is joining forces with United Steelworkers Union (USW Works) through their joint super PAC, the New American Jobs Fund, and the Campaign for Family Friendly Economy PAC to lead a field effort supporting former Sen. Sherrod Brown, Rep. Greg Landsman, and Rep. Marcy Kaptur. Canvassers in Columbus and Cleveland are engaging with voters about Sherrod Brown’s plans to lower costs for Ohioans, especially the cost of utilities, child care, elder care and health care. Brown’s challenger, Sen. Jon Husted, not only voted for the Big Ugly Bill, known as the Republican Tax Law, but also has a history of cozying up to Big Polluters. During Husted’s campaign for Ohio Lieutenant Governor in 2018, FirstEnergy spent $1 million to boost his campaign. Once elected, Husted led the charge to pass state House Bill 6, which funded a $1 billion taxpayer-funded bailout for FirstEnergy. As a result, Ohioans’ utility bills have risen as much as 35%.

Earlier this summer, LCV Victory Fund announced plans to invest at least $50 million in the 2026 midterm election cycle. LCV Victory Fund’s priorities this cycle include flipping the House, protecting and expanding pro-clean energy seats in the U.S. Senate, and supporting the work of state affiliates to elect pro-clean energy and climate candidates up and down the ballot. The investment will include a strategic mix of paid media, field, mail and work with content creators.
The Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC also plans to spend $50 million in the midterms to support Democrats in key House and Senate races who are committed to lowering costs, especially the cost of caregiving, and delivering real economic relief for working families.
