Republican Tiffany Smiley has never run for public office before, but that hasn’t stopped her from supporting the same old failed energy policies of the past. Smiley supported the dangerous Keystone XL Pipeline, as well as opening millions of acres in the Gulf of Mexico and off the coast of Alaska to oil and gas drilling. In her deceptively titled “Agenda for Energy and Environmental Recovery and Reform,” she calls for expanding domestic natural gas production and oil refining capacity. Smiley has also railed against the Inflation Reduction Act – saying it was “not something to be celebrated” despite the fact that it would lower energy costs for the average family and boost Washington’s clean energy industries.
