Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes is a staunch climate champion who knows that solving the climate crisis can help reinvigorate Wisconsin’s economy. In the Senate, Barnes will fight for critical clean energy investments that create high-quality, well-paying jobs in Wisconsin manufacturing solar panels and wind turbines. Having chaired the governor’s Climate Change Task Force, Barnes also understands that climate change is already having a devastating impact on communities across the state, including Wisconsin’s farms and agricultural sector. And with oil companies continuing to pull in massive profits – Exxon, Shell, and Chevron alone reported a combined $40 billion in profits for the second quarter of 2022 – while working families feel pain at the pump, Barnes supports a Big Oil windfall profits tax and cracking down on their price gouging.

Ron Johnson
Dirty Dozen member and Senator Ron Johnson has a long history of denying the existential threat of climate change. From repeatedly opposing legislation that would create clean energy jobs to calling climate change “bullshit” during 2021’s unprecedented and dangerous heatwave, Johnson is one of the Senate’s biggest climate action foes. Like Donald Trump, Johnson has falsely speculated that there are “health” issues with wind turbines – ignoring the massive economic opportunities for Wisconsin by transitioning to clean energy. Johnson has also consistently voted against clean air and water protections while raking in over $700,000 in campaign cash from the fossil fuel industry. His dismal anti-environmental record has earned him an abysmal lifetime score of just 7% in LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
