Ron DeSantis: “Extreme and Divisive As They Come”
Washington, D.C.: In response to Ron DeSantis’s announcement that he is running for president, the League of Conservation Voters Victory Fund issued the following statement from Senior Vice President of Campaigns, Pete Maysmith:
“Ron DeSantis has gone from bad in Congress with an abysmal 2 percent lifetime LCV score to worse as governor of Florida where he continues to deny the impacts of climate change on his state. The cost of taking his anti-climate record to the national stage as President would be catastrophic. DeSantis has already made clear he would unleash his war on climate science, clean energy jobs, and strong pollution safeguards against clean air and clean water. Just as alarming are his inhumane policies designed to harm communities of color, immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, as well as everyone’s rights to adequate health care, including reproductive rights, and a functioning democracy. His extreme agenda is out of step with the people in this country.
We can expect to see attempts to greenwash DeSantis’s record in Florida as supposed evidence of moderation, but voters should make no mistake, he is as extreme and divisive as they come.”
