LCV Victory Fund and House Majority PAC put $260K behind anti-Rosendale spot

Missoula, Montana — LCV Victory Fund and House Majority PAC launched a new $260,000 radio ad today in opposition to Matt Rosendale’s campaign to represent Montana’s at-large congressional district. The ad, narrated in part from the perspective of an elk, draws attention to Matt Rosendale’s anti-public lands record as a real estate developer.

LISTEN: “Elk”

The ad says, “I am an elk and it’s been difficult these last few years. As an elk, Montana’s always been my home. But now I feel it slipping away … Rosendale’s a developer who wants to pave over our habitat. He pushed efforts to sell out our public lands. Matt Rosendale. A real estate developer who wants to be Montana’s voice in Congress. Well sorry. Not on our watch.”

“Montanans know who is going to fight to protect public lands, and it’s not real estate developer Matt Rosendale. He’s proven he will side with the billionaire Wilks Brothers and the corporate interests who fund his campaign and want to sell off Montana’s public lands,” said Megan Jacobs, National Campaigns Director, LCV Victory Fund. “Rosendale will put Montanans’ way of life at risk. Rosendale’s wrong for Montana.”

LCV Victory Fund and House Majority PAC’s 2020 poll of battleground House districts, in partnership with NRDC Action Votes and EDF Action, found that environmental messaging, both critiques of anti-environmental politicians and positive messaging in support of environmental champions, can swing competitive House races.

“Elk”
I am an elk
And it’s been difficult these last few years
As an elk, Montana’s always been my home
But now I feel it slipping away
Wildlife throughout Montana are raising their voices
About land development here in our state
And the name that’s on everyone’s lips?
Matt Rosendale
There’s no telling how many tens of thousands of dollars Matt Rosendale’s company has made
On oil lease royalties from the Wilks brothers
Rosendale’s a developer who wants to pave over our habitat
He pushed efforts to sell out our public lands
Matt Rosendale
A real estate developer who wants to be Montana’s voice in Congress
Well sorry
Not on our watch
To every lynx, wolverine, black bear and badger
Rise up and make your voice heard
The last thing we need is someone like Matt Rosendale in Congress
Our way of life is at risk
Matt Rosendale’s wrong for Montana
