Direct mail campaign already hitting mailboxes across Maine

Portland, ME — LCV Victory Fund announced today that the organization is investing over $800,000  in Maine to defeat anti-environment Senator Susan Collins and elect Sara Gideon. The investment includes a direct mail campaign that started hitting Mainers’ mailboxes in late September.

MAILER: “Millions”

MAILER: “Excuses”
MAILER: “Listen to Science”
MAILER: “Who Wants To Be Your Senator”
MAILER: “Risk”
MAILER: “Award”

These mailers are targeted to unaffiliated voters and Mainers modeled as potential Biden/Collins voters.

“We have supported Senator Collins in the past, but it’s time for change,” said Megan Jacobs, LCV Victory Fund National Campaigns Director. “Collins has taken more corporate PAC money than any senator in Maine history and it’s clear that she will ultimately side with Donald Trump and the corporate special interests that fund her campaign over Maine families.”

Collins has accepted over $500,000 from the oil and gas industry and voted for massive tax breaks for big oil companies. Instead of being an independent voice for Maine, she has supported anti-environment policies like Trump’s tax plan that opened the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas drilling. And she put her support behind some of Trump’s worst anti-environmental nominees including Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and Interior Secretary David Bernhardt.

LCV Action Fund-endorsed Maine candidate for Senate Sara Gideon is a proven climate and environmental justice champion. As Speaker of the Maine House, Gideon shepherded crucial environmental bills through the legislature including legislation to address climate change, promote renewable energy, and ban drilling off of Maine’s coast
