Des Moines, IA — LCV Victory Fund announced today that it would spend $1.2 million on a direct mail campaign in opposition to Senator Joni Ernst’s re-election campaign. The program includes multiple rounds of mail about Ernst’s anti-environment, anti-Iowa record. Mailers started dropping across Iowa on Monday.

“Joni Ernst is the senator of special interests’ dreams. We’re going big in Iowa in the final weeks because Iowans deserve a senator who works for them, not a climate denier bought and paid for by Big Oil,” said Emily Crerand, LCV Victory Fund National Campaigns Director. “We need to send Theresa Greenfield to Washington to fight for the health and safety of Iowa families.”

Ernst is a member of LCV Victory Fund’s 2020 Dirty Dozen list of some of the worst anti-environmental candidates. She has an abysmal 3% lifetime LCV score. This is LCV Victory Fund’s second major independent expenditure against Ernst this cycle — the organization ran a $2 million TV ad last month calling attention to the more than $300,000 in campaign contributions Ernst has taken from the oil and gas industry.

Mail pieces in this campaign will be released in the coming weeks.
