Ahead of First Arizona Senate Debate, LCV Victory Fund Adds Blake Masters to Signature ‘Dirty Dozen’ List
Washington, D.C. – Ahead of tonight’s first debate in the Arizona Senate race, LCV Victory Fund announced that Republican candidate Blake Masters is the latest addition to the 2022 House and Senate Dirty Dozen list of the worst anti-environmental and anti-democracy candidates.
LCV VF is adding notorious MAGA radical Masters to the Dirty Dozen because of his extreme anti-democracy views, support for the Big Lie, and climate denial.
“Tonight, proven champion for middle class families Senator Mark Kelly will debate one of the most extreme, anti-environment, anti-democracy MAGA Republicans this country has ever seen – Arizona voters deserve to know that Blake Masters is one of the dirtiest candidates running for federal office this year,” said Pete Maysmith, LCV Victory Fund SVP of Campaigns. “From calling efforts to confront the climate crisis ‘stupid,’ to encouraging people to be ‘skeptical’ about climate change, Blake Masters is completely out of step with Arizonans who just experienced a deadly summer of record-breaking, climate-fueled extreme heat.”

Arizona Senate – Blake Masters
Blake Masters is a first time Dirty Dozen member. Trump-endorsed Masters has tied himself to Big Oil and the MAGA radicals who want to upend our democracy. He questions climate science – ignoring the severe and devastating impacts of climate change in Arizona and calling efforts to confront the climate crisis “stupid.” Masters, whose campaign is being propped up by right-wing billionaire Peter Thiel, has also aggressively pushed the “Big Lie” that Donald Trump won the 2020 election. The Washington Post has even described Masters as having embraced “Trump’s extreme style” and reported that he cites Trump as his political inspiration.
For more than 25 years, our Dirty Dozen program has targeted candidates — regardless of party affiliation — who consistently side against the environment and are running in races in which LCV Victory Fund has a serious chance to affect the outcome. Blake Masters is the seventh addition to LCV Victory Fund’s 2022 House and Senate Dirty Dozen. He joins Nevada Senate candidate Adam Laxalt, Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker, Pennsylvania Senate candidate Mehmet Oz, North Carolina Senate candidate Rep. Ted Budd (NC-13), and New Mexico Rep. Yvette Herrell (NM-02) on this year’s list of the worst of the worst federal candidates for our environment and democracy. LCV Victory Fund will announce the final five additions to the 2022 House and Senate Dirty Dozen next week.
