In California’s 45th Congressional District, LCV Action Fund-endorsed Derek Tran is running against Republican incumbent Michelle Steel. An Army veteran who became a lawyer to help regular folks not corporations, Derek Tran specialized in protecting consumers and victims of discrimination. Michelle Steel has a 4% lifetime LCV score and has taken $180,325 In campaign contributions from the oil and gas industry in less than four years. Steel sides with Big Oil CEOs over ordinary Californians, voting against a measure protecting California’s coast from oil drilling, but voting to protect oil companies from price gouging investigations that would have saved Californians money. Steel has even personally profited from oil royalties, making money off of an industry that is polluting her state and our world.
