Climate change denialist and Utah House Rep. Ken Ivory has spent years pushing a fringe legal theory that Utah can force the federal government to hand over millions of acres of public land to the state. This effort led the Salt Lake Tribune editorial board to label Ken a “Snake Oil Salesman” who primarily enriches his own advocacy group, The American Lands Council. Ivory has been accused of misleading county and local governments into diverting taxpayer funds to that same organization, spending hundreds of thousands of public dollars on lawsuits with little chance of success.
