In Iowa’s 1st  Congressional District, LCV Action-Fund endorsed Christina Bohannan is challenging Republican incumbent Mariannette Miller-Meeks.Christina Bohannan is a former environmental engineer and in the Iowa State House sponsored legislation on solar energy tax credits, and testing for lead in water at schools and county water systems. Mariannette Miller-Meeks leads the House GOP’s greenwashing group, the Conservative Climate Caucus, which, in her own words “individuals can utilize as a benefit to them in reelection.” Unfortunately, merely claiming to join a caucus with the word climate in the name doesn’t mean she or any of the caucus members actually support pro-environment policies. Miller-Meers has a 12% lifetime LCV score and falls right in line with MAGA Republicans on issues like repealing historic investments in clean energy, rolling back environmental protections, selling out our public lands, and protecting handouts to oil companies.
