Jaime Harrison understands that South Carolina’s coastal communities are poised to face severe impacts from climate change-fueled extreme weather events, which is why he’s committed to taking action to confront the climate crisis and fighting for environmental justice. Harrison also recognizes that addressing climate change represents an opportunity to build a clean energy economy that creates good-paying jobs, helps small businesses, and leads to safer, healthier communities. Additionally, Harrison will stand up to the Big Oil companies — fighting to ban offshore oil drilling and hold corporate polluters accountable.
South Carolina Senator and 2020 Dirty Dozen member Lindsey Graham has emerged as one of the Senate’s leading apologists for and enablers of Donald Trump. Despite saying that he believes in climate change, Graham’s votes in the Senate prove otherwise. For example, Graham voted for Trump’s Dirty Power scam and to confirm former coal lobbyist Andrew Wheeler to head the EPA. At the same time, he’s accepted more than $500,000 in campaign contributions from oil and gas interests. Graham has earned an LCV lifetime score of just 13%, while voting with Trump nearly 90% of the time.
As chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Graham has been a key figure in pushing forward on Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation hearings for the Supreme Court, along with a stream of extreme, anti-environment lower court judges.
