Republican businessman Joe O’Dea has tried to brand himself as a moderate, but the truth is that he has demonstrated he is on the side of Big Oil and would not support pro-environment legislation. Despite Colorado already facing devastating climate impacts that are ruining lives and harming the economy, O’Dea is a climate denier who has said that the climate crisis doesn’t require “urgent” action. In fact, he has said he would default to the “oil and gas people” on environmental regulations. O’Dea has come out against the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Economy (CORE) Act, which would provide additional protection for tens of thousands of acres in federal land. And a pro-O’Dea super PAC, American Policy Fund, received $300,000 from Big Oil during the Republican primary.
